The Heritage Arts Foundation has begun a collaboration with the historical museum of Cartagena, Colombia. This museum, located in the historic building of the Inquisition in Cartagena, dates back to the 17th century. Our first collaboration was with the exposition of several paintings from Africa in celebration of the African Heritage Month in Colombia. The second activity involves a donation of objects to the museum by the Foundation from the Bertrand collection to augment the collection of objects donated in 1998.
The Heritage Arts Foundation is also working to establish a connection between the National Museum of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the museum in Cartagena. Given the Congolese origin of many of the residents of coastal Colombia, we believe that this relationship can do much to recognize the common cultural heritage of the two countries. In the future, we hope to exchange museum experts and other information between the two entities.
